First and foremost, our band goes under two names to differentiate which type of music will be played at a particular venue. When you see us advertised as Goldrush, you will be hearing Country music, and when we are advertised as Overdrive, the venue is classic rock. This helps our fan base in determining which gigs they want to attend. We are a central MA based band that has been active on the local music scene since 1988. It was within the past few years that we morphed into a Classic Rock band for various reasons, but largely because there was more work for classic rock acts. The band includes David Malouin on lead vocals, electric / acoustic guitar, and fiddle; from Stowe Ma is Leo Egan on Lead guitar, Pedal Steel Guitar and vocals; from Groton MA, is Al Ruggieri on drums; and from Ayer, MA, is Steve Taft on Bass guitar and lead vocals.
Some History
For those of you who have seen us, you know that our song list is quite dynamic. Over the years, we've discovered that the strength of the band is in the versatility of our presentation. This is further evidenced by checking our schedule, where you'll find that we are regulars at club "Kasbar" in Worcester, and several other locations where we play strictly Rock and Roll under the name of Overdrive. This diverse background in musical styles, allows us to play private functions where the musical tastes vary widely and be able to switch from traditional country classics to hard driving rock or vice versa if the situation calls. Our performance history runs the gamut of local venues and events. Some of our higher visibility performances include several gigs for the old "WKLB" at both the Roxy and Avalons in Boston MA. In addition to our regular club gigs, summers have been filled with outdoor events at places like Indian Ranch; the Hampton Beach Half Shell; the Massachusetts endowment for the arts town concert series; local fairs festivals fiddle contests and a ton of back yard parties. .
Opening Act Credits
Over the years we have been proud to open for the following major national acts:
Jefferson Starship, Charlie Daniels, Diamond Rio, Phil Vasser,
Pam Tillis, Sammy Kershaw,
Robert Ellis Oral, and
1964, the Beatles Tribute Band
